SmartRoute compares round-trip latency and packet loss measured by your device with anonymous aggregate gateway load. It then chooses the route most likely to stay fast and stable.
The inputs are limited to latency, loss, load, network type and coarse region. The sites you visit and your DNS lookups are not part of the model.

We do not store the websites you visit, your DNS lookups, destination addresses or your source IP after a request is handled. Gateway system logs stay in memory and DNS query logging is disabled.

What happens after the three days?
The annual plan renews at $39.99/year after the three-day introductory period. Cancel before renewal and that annual charge is not made. The initial $2.99 covers the three days.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no username, registration form or password setup. You receive a private access code after checkout, which lets you restore access and manage the subscription.
What billing information does uVPN receive?
Payment providers process the billing information needed to complete your purchase. uVPN does not connect payment details to your browsing activity.
What does uVPN log?
We do not store browsing activity, DNS queries or destination addresses. Gateways use in-memory system logs and their DNS query logging is switched off. The service has not been independently audited, so this is our own statement rather than a third-party certification.
How many devices can I use?
Up to five devices. You can remove a device from the Manage VPN page using your private access code.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. Apple requires an approved Network Extension entitlement before a VPN app can ship, followed by App Store review.
Can I use uVPN for torrenting?
No. Peer-to-peer file sharing is not permitted and inbound connections are blocked. See the acceptable use policy.
